Farmhouse Getaways Two curated properties

We built these for the trips worth rounding everyone up for.

The right house makes the whole trip. Enough beds for everyone, and rooms and spaces people want to linger in — that’s the bar we set, and it’s the whole reason these properties exist. Both homes were furnished by the same hands, and you’ll feel it the moment you walk in — the same warmth, the same care, the same curated experience.

Red Barn Ranch is a working micro-farm, with hens and peacocks to greet in the morning, a vineyard, a greenhouse and gardens.

Mountain Retreat is eight acres of trail and pine at the base of Iron Mountain.

Different landscapes, same welcome.

The Details Handled

Everyone is coming. We planned for that.

When a whole group gathers, small details can affect how the trip feels. Where the youngest ones sleep. Whether anyone has to manage stairs. Where the kids can be kids while adults gather around the table. We planned for all of it.

The main house at Red Barn Ranch is single-story — all six bedrooms on one floor, no stairs at the entry — and every bedroom at Mountain Retreat is on the ground floor too. The pool is fenced. Seating areas are tucked all around both properties. The card game, the quiet readers, and the loud conversation each get their own corner. Our smallest guests are also top of mind: pack-n-plays and high chairs at both houses, and enough toys to keep them enchanted.

the people behind farmhousegetaways

The same hands behind both houses.

Farmhouse Getaways is us - Cory, Carissa & Legend, The same hands chose both properties and furnished every room — and we live on-site at Red Barn Ranch, tending the birds, the gardens, the grounds, and the onsite farm store.

When you call with a question, you’re talking to the people who lovingly care for the spaces. During a stay at the ranch, whatever’s ripe in the garden is yours to pick. If your group wants more of the farm, just ask — we’re happy to schedule time for hands-on at the bird garden. Mornings can start with gathering eggs if the kids are up for it.

For groups who want to go all in, we offer add-on experiences too, from neighboring farm visits, in-house massages and chefs, to the kids trying their luck to sift some gems at our mining sluice — ask us and we’ll set it up.

Mountain Retreat offers a different kind of stay: eight acres of trail and pine at the base of Iron Mountain, made for slow mornings and long dinners. And whichever house you book, the arrangement is the same — we’re a phone call away when you need something, and out of your way when you don’t.

At the back gate of Red Barn Ranch

There is a farm store on the property.

Mini Barn Market sits at the back entrance of Red Barn Ranch, about a ninety-second walk from the front porch. Guests can wander over in pajamas for eggs and sourdough before anyone else is up. Since it's on the outside of the property, Mountain Retreat guests are welcome here as well.

Eggs from the birds everyone met yesterday. Produce, mushrooms, sourdough, and soap from people who make it here, or just a few miles from here. It is one of the most unique and beloved experiences in San Diego County, and guests staying at the ranch are fifty steps from it.

For the larger gatherings

Some groups take both houses.

Together the two properties sleep thirty-two, three miles apart. Wedding parties do this, and so do family reunions, retreats and companies bringing a team out for a few days. Everyone stays close, and nobody ends up scattered across a hotel.

Explore the area

There is enough here to fill the week, and the rest of San Diego is thirty minutes away.

More than forty wineries sit on the Ramona plateau within ten miles of either property. Potato Chip Rock is just over a mile away, the Safari Park is twenty-five minutes, and Julian is thirty minutes up into the mountains for apple pie. Downtown San Diego and all the beaches are thirty-five minutes back the other way.

Most groups end up going into the city much less than they planned to — they settle in, the children find the pool and the barn, and days go by without anyone starting their car. We take that as a compliment. The rest of San Diego is right there if you ever want it.

  • Wine countryMore than forty wineries within ten miles. Several close enough to walk.
  • Farm standsOurs is at the back gate of Red Barn Ranch, with ten more within a mile, and thirty-plus across the valley on the map we drew — most of them at the end of a country road that most people miss.
  • Mt. WoodsonPotato Chip Rock is the most photographed hike in Southern California. A wide trail, paved all the way to the top, this steep hike is great for the whole family.
  • Iron MountainMountain Retreat guests can hike our private trails on the back of Iron Mountain. The public trailhead is 5 miles down the 67 and provides a beautiful hike.
  • Ramona Grasslands PreserveOpen rolling hills, easy walking and good mountain biking. Hawks nest there, and some springs National Geographic comes out to photograph them hatching.
  • Dos Picos County ParkA county park of oak groves and a fishing pond, with trails, mountain biking and a big playground. Walkable from Mountain Retreat.
  • JulianA mile high city at 5000+ feet, this gold mining time has lots to explore. Apple pie, gold mines, and pine forest, just thirty minutes up the road. It snows here in the wintertime.
  • Safari ParkTen miles & twenty five minutes, and you are looking at rhinos and elephants at the amazing Safari Park. This San Diego Zoo sanctuary is amazing, and In our opinion, even better than the downtown San Diego Zoo.
  • San DiegoThirty-five minutes to downtown or the airport, which is the part guests never believe until they drive it.

Come see which one suits your group.
